Founded in 2008 Founded in 2008, KashCrafts began with a simple vision: To preserve the centuries-old heritage of Kashmiri craftsmanship and bring it to the world with honesty, purity, and artistry. What started as a small family initiative gradually grew into a purposeful journey dedicated to handmade excellence and the people behind it. Our early work was rooted in local craftsmanship and relationships with traditional weaving communities. One of our first significant collaborations was with the Gulshan Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society, a longstanding weaving organization established in 1985. This early association helped lay the foundation for our commitment to traditional handloom craftsmanship and artisan-led production. Growing With the Craft As KashCrafts evolved, our focus expanded beyond traditional products to include new designs, product lines, and initiatives aimed at creating greater opportunities for artisans. 2012 — New Directions We introduced new product lines while developing initiatives focused on supporting the artisan community and creating opportunities for traditional skills to reach new markets. 2013 — Handloom & Silk Recognition KashCrafts received Handloom Mark and Silk Mark certifications, strengthening our commitment to quality, authenticity, and India’s traditional textile heritage. 2018 — Protecting the Brand The KashCrafts® trademark was officially registered, helping protect the identity and vision of the brand as we continued to grow. 2023 — Government Handicrafts Recognition KashCrafts received an Art Dealer Certificate from the Government Department of Handicrafts, Srinagar, further marking our journey within Kashmir’s handicraft ecosystem. 2026 — A Growing Artisan Community Today, KashCrafts works with more than 627 active artisans across Kashmir, including skilled: * Weavers * Sozni embroiderers * Ari workers * Rafugars * Textile artisans * Designers * Traditional craftspeople Behind these numbers are hundreds of individual stories, families, skills, and traditions.
